Looking upward

I just think that humans were created to look upward.
Catherine Hicks

The church of RossumThe outside en inside of old churches are often impressive. Making an impression on the visitors was often a purpose of this. I can enjoy visiting these locations and embrace the atmosphere. Almost always I looked at the walls, the windows and everything else that can be seen while looking horizontally.

It wasn’t until a couple of years ago that I incidentally looked upwards. And I was surprised to see interesting views, as varied and beautiful as the rest of the church. That was quite a discovery to me and the origin of this series on Looking upward.

And thinking about this: looking upwards is not only something to do with our eyes, but also with our. heart.
